Empowering Youth, Building Futures

What We Do

At Impact Forward, we empower youth and communities by advancing health, education, and overall quality of life. We design, fund, and support initiatives that break down barriers and help people thrive mentally, emotionally, socially, and academically.

  • Youth Development & Education: Mentorship, life skills workshops, career exploration, and financial support through scholarships and bursaries.

  • Mental Health & Well-Being: Programs, workshops, and peer-support networks that foster emotional resilience, social connection, and positive mental health.

  • Community Inclusion & Partnerships: Collaborative projects alongside schools, health organizations, and qualified donees to support families, newcomers, Indigenous communities, and marginalized populations.

  • Resources & Public Awareness: Accessible educational materials, research, and public campaigns focused on community well-being and equitable opportunity.

Every initiative we support operates strictly for public benefit, ensuring individuals and communities have the resources they need to build a brighter future.

Meet Our Board

  • Karen Hill - Secretary and Director

Karen Hill brings over 25 years of experience in education, mental health, and program leadership to Impact Forward. A Registered Psychotherapist currently practicing at Child in Mind Psychological Services, Karen dedicates her time to supporting children, youth, and families across educational and clinical environments. She was also the co-founder of Blue Sky School, an innovative school built around the belief that education should empower young people to discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and learn in ways that work for them.

Grassroots initiatives and charitable work have always been central to Karen's life. She supports Impact Forward because she has seen firsthand how transformative the right educational, mental health, and wellness supports can be for a young person. Karen brings her clinical expertise, experience in innovative initiatives and education, and deep commitment to young people to the Impact Forward Board.

  • Jeff Turner - Director

Jeff Turner is a recently retired senior executive, workforce strategist, and partnership incubator with extensive governance experience across the non-profit and corporate sectors. He specializes in strategic planning, innovative revenue generation, and cross-sector partnership development.

With deep roots working alongside Indigenous leaders, youth, and elders—including 15 years volunteering with Project North—Jeff excels at bridging relationships between communities, industry, and government. Notably, he played a key role alongside the late Rabbi Reuven Bulka and retired Senator Jim Munson in establishing National Kindness Week in Canada.

  • Rebecca Chambers - Director

Rebecca Chambers is an educator, social entrepreneur, and Founder and Principal of R.I.S.E. Academy. After 17 years as a secondary school teacher, Rebecca founded R.I.S.E. to create more flexible, inclusive opportunities for young people to succeed.

She brings extensive experience in education, youth engagement, program development, and community partnerships to Impact Forward. Rebecca is passionate about removing financial barriers and ensuring young people have access to meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and build brighter futures.

  • Rosemary Ryan - Chair

Rosemary brings a unique blend of professional experience, wellness expertise, and genuine compassion to Impact Forward. In her day-to-day career, Rosemary works in Human Resources, while also sharing her passion for health and wellness as a fitness instructor at Movati and a Reiki Master.

A natural problem-solver, Rosemary is someone who sees a need and takes action. Her belief that everyone deserves access to opportunities that support their physical, emotional, and personal well-being is what drew her to Impact Forward. She brings decades of experience, tremendous energy, and a commitment to helping remove barriers so more young people and families can access the programs and support they need to thrive.

  • Sharon Kavanagh - Treasurer

With over 30 years of experience as a bookkeeper and business coach, Sharon is passionate about helping businesses stay organized, understand their numbers, and build a strong foundation for success. As a business owner herself, she understands firsthand the challenges that come with running and growing a business.

Over the years, she has had the opportunity to work with clients across a wide range of industries, including small businesses, non-profit organizations, charities, and private schools. I believe that good accounting is about more than just numbers—it's about giving business owners the information, clarity, and support they need to focus on what they do best.

I was especially drawn to becoming part of Impact Forward because of my love for children/young adults and my belief that everybody deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Everyone should have access to the support, opportunities, and advantages they need to reach their full potential. Being able to contribute my experience and skills to an organization that is working to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children/young adults is something that is very important to me.

E.A.T.: Enjoy Appreciate Taste

E.A.T: Enjoy Appreciate Together

E.A.T. — Enjoy. Appreciate. Together.

E.A.T. is a celebration of good food, local businesses, community and impact.

This fall, we’re bringing Manotick together to enjoy an evening with neighbours and friends, appreciate the restaurants, chefs, makers and businesses that make our community special, and come together around great food and a shared commitment to our community.

Guests will have the opportunity to sample local flavours, discover new favourites, meet the people behind local businesses, enjoy demonstrations and experiences, and connect with neighbours — all while supporting a meaningful cause.

Presented by Impact Forward, E.A.T. is more than a food event. Funds raised will help create opportunities for young people through education, mentorship, skill development, well-being and community-based initiatives.

Enjoy the community.
Appreciate local.
Come together.

Make an impact.
